Twin Bedroom Ideas
You are a proud parent of two beautiful twins and now that you have two tots, you’d have to get two of everything,;but how can you give them two bedrooms if you only have room for one of them? Decorating for twins can be quite difficult. You need good design flow and design combinations that would cater to both their personalities. With proper interior design, you can merge their personalities in one room without creating chaos and confusion, so read on for some design tips for twins.
Choosing Your Color
Choosing the color of their bedroom is a challenge. If your twins are of opposite genders, choosing pink or blue is not a good idea. In order to cater to the both of them, you need to choose a neutral color. Go with yellow or taupe for a more spacious feel. If their bedroom is big enough to separate with a line, paint one side of the room pink while the other side’s blue and place their beds in their respective places. If your twins are of the same sex, then choose a color that is suitable for their gender.
A bedroom is great with a play area. Designate an area in their bedroom where they can play. Utilize good storage units where your twins can keep their toys without leaving them lying around. If your twins are of different sexes, create separate storage areas for their toys to avoid having dolls mixed up with toy soldiers. Always teach your twins to clean up after playing to reduce clutter.
A study area is useful for studious twins. Buy them a long desk that is enough for twins to share and place it against a wall. If their bedroom is big enough, you can place two separate desks and place them on opposite sides of the room to encourage independence. Add drawers, separators or bookshelves to organize their papers, pens and books.
Natural and Artificial Lighting
Natural lighting can be utilized to create a more spacious feel in their bedroom. Light can instantly illuminate a space in the room, making it visually wider and larger. Artificial lighting should be used sparingly and placed in corners where it would be useful. Provide a good light for their desks and a night light for twins who are uncomfortable in the dark.
In order to design a bedroom for twins, you have to consider that both have different personalities and may want a certain thing contrary to the other. Consult your twins on what they want and design accordingly. Always remember to merge your designs and make them cohesive to avoid that look of clutter and confusion.
